Rehab near Marlton, NJ: one road between Marlton and our door

Most towns we serve reach us by a patchwork of county roads. Marlton does not. From the center of town you get on Route 73 south and stay on it for about eight miles, through Voorhees and into Berlin, until you reach 1044 NJ-73, the South Jersey Recovery Program office. That is the entire set of directions.

Plan on 15 to 20 minutes. Route 73 has a lot of traffic lights between Marlton and Berlin, so the trip is slower than the mileage suggests.

The reason eight miles is worth thinking about at all is that outpatient treatment is not one appointment. You come during the day, several days a week depending on the level of care, and you sleep at home. We do not run detox or a residential program. If one of those has to happen first, we will say so and help you arrange it.

Hours are the other thing to settle early. The office takes calls Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., clinical staff are on site 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and programming itself runs 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for partial care and 9:30 a.m. to noon for IOP. There is no evening track. If you commute north to Cherry Hill or Philadelphia for work and cannot move your hours, raise that on the first call, because it may rule us out.

The 406 Bus

NJ Transit’s 406 runs the same road. It serves Route 73 through Marlton, including Virtua Marlton Hospital, and continues toward Berlin. Two limits apply. Not every 406 trip makes the run to Berlin, because some end in Marlton. And the trips that do go to Berlin end at Berlin Circle Plaza, a little over two miles north of our office. You would need a ride for that last stretch. Timetables change, so check the specific trip with NJ Transit.

What the County Line Changes

Marlton is the mailing address for most of Evesham Township, and Evesham is in Burlington County. Our office is in Camden County. People ask whether that matters.

For treatment itself, it does not. Programs are not assigned by county, and health plans build their networks provider by provider, not by county line. What your own plan will pay for here is a separate question, and one we check before you start. We accept court-mandated clients, and our case management team handles the documentation, though if a Burlington County court is the reason you are looking, confirm with your attorney or probation officer that a Camden County program satisfies the order before you start anywhere.

What does follow the county line is the public help around treatment. Burlington County’s Department of Human Services keeps a list of substance use disorder resources for its residents, including county recovery centers where you can sit down with a recovery peer. Camden County’s addiction office, which our other town pages point people to, is not yours. Neither is Camden County’s Project SAVE, which places counselors in Camden County municipal courts and does not reach Evesham Township Municipal Court. If a charge is what started this, ask your attorney or the court what Burlington County offers instead.

The state’s own programs ignore the line entirely. ReachNJ, New Jersey’s addiction helpline, is at 1-844-732-2465. Naloxone365 lets anyone 14 or older pick up naloxone free and anonymously at a participating New Jersey pharmacy. The SAMHSA National Helpline is 1-800-662-4357.

Straight to Treatment Began at the Evesham Police Station

In March 2018 the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office launched Straight to Treatment at the Evesham Township police station on Tuckerton Road. A person can walk in during program hours, be assessed by a licensed drug and alcohol counselor, and be connected to treatment. What the prosecutor’s office publishes is one specific protection: you can turn in any drugs or drug paraphernalia you have with you and will not be charged with a drug possession offense. It is not a blanket amnesty for anything else. The program has since expanded to other Burlington County towns.

Days and hours have changed over the years, so confirm the current schedule and the current terms with the Evesham Police Department or the prosecutor’s office before you go, including how an open warrant or a pending charge would be handled. We are not part of Straight to Treatment.

What Evesham’s Treatment Admissions Show

The county line runs through the data too. The state Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services publishes treatment admissions by the municipality the person lives in, one report per county, so Evesham’s numbers sit in the 2025 Substance Use Overview for Burlington County rather than in the Camden County report our other town pages use. The 2025 edition, dated July 2026, is the most recent.

Evesham Township residents accounted for 111 admissions that year, about 3 percent of Burlington County’s 3,482.

Heroin2523%22%
Methamphetamine76%3%
Cocaine or crack65%8%
Other opiates65%10%
Marijuana22%8%

The alcohol line is the one to look at. Alcohol was the primary drug in more than half of all Evesham admissions, against 45 percent countywide. Heroin was the primary drug in 23 percent, about the same as the county’s 22 percent. Read both figures as counts of admissions to licensed programs that report to the state, not counts of people: one person admitted twice appears twice, and anyone who never got to treatment does not appear at all.

If alcohol is the problem, the diagnosis is a count. The DSM-5-TR lists eleven criteria for alcohol use disorder, and how many of them you meet in a year is what sets the severity. Our page on alcohol abuse goes through them. One warning goes with that. A person who drinks heavily every day should not stop abruptly alone. Alcohol withdrawal can bring seizures and delirium and can be fatal without medical management. That is a job for medically supervised withdrawal, which we help arrange and do not provide ourselves.

How Often You Would Be Making That Drive

Anywhere from one day a week to five, depending on the level of care. Intensive outpatient is where most medically stable people begin, 9:30 a.m. to noon, five days a week at first and three as you step down. Partial care runs Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and it fits someone stepping down from detox or a residential stay elsewhere, or someone who needs clinical contact to be the default setting for a while. Outpatient is one or two sessions a week, which is the point where the drive stops deciding anything.

Most of those hours are group therapy, with your individual therapist at least weekly in partial care and intensive outpatient. Depression, anxiety, or another psychiatric condition alongside the substance use is dual diagnosis work, and we run groups for it. Where opioid or alcohol use disorder is the diagnosis, medication assisted treatment can sit inside that same weekly schedule when it is appropriate.

In an Emergency

Call 911 first if someone may have overdosed. Then give naloxone if you have it, and if there is no response within 2 to 3 minutes give another dose in the other nostril and keep going until help arrives. Stay with them. Naloxone reverses opioids only, and New Jersey’s supply increasingly contains xylazine and medetomidine, which it does not reverse, so give it anyway and keep waiting for the ambulance even if the person stays sleepy.

For thoughts of suicide, call or text 988, or 911 if someone is in immediate danger or has already been hurt or taken something.

Virtua Marlton Hospital, at 90 Brick Road, has a 24-hour emergency department. It is not affiliated with us. Our own phone is an admissions line answered on weekdays. It is not a crisis line.

Making the First Call

(856) 788-6914 reaches admissions, or you can send a message. A clinician will want to know what you are using and how much, what mental health history there is, what your medical situation is, and what a normal week looks like. The level of care comes out of those four answers. Insurance is the separate question, and we verify your benefits and tell you what your plan will and will not cover before a start date exists. The admissions page describes each step.

And if the right answer turns out to be a program on your own side of the county line, we will say that and help you find it. If it is us, drug and alcohol rehab near Marlton, NJ is eight miles down Route 73, and the call is (856) 788-6914.
