FDA-approved medication prescribed alongside counseling for opioid or alcohol use disorder. Buprenorphine (Suboxone, Sublocade) and naltrexone (Vivitrol) are prescribed and managed on site. For opioid use disorder the medication is the part with the strongest evidence, and here it runs inside a plan that also includes individual and group therapy.

FAQ
Common questions about what we treat
Whether it counts, what happens when it is more than one thing, and what needs to come first.
Clinicians use the DSM-5-TR criteria: using more than intended, failing to cut back, cravings, giving up activities, continuing despite harm, tolerance and withdrawal, among others. Two or three within a year is a mild disorder, four or five moderate, six or more severe. If you are asking the question, a fifteen-minute call with an addiction-trained clinician will answer it honestly, including when the answer is that you do not need us.
That is the usual case, not the exception, and it does not need a separate program. Substance use disorders are diagnosed by pattern, and the assessment covers every substance you use because the combination changes two things: whether you need medical detox first (daily alcohol or benzodiazepine use alongside anything else) and which medication, if any, fits (buprenorphine or naltrexone for opioids, naltrexone for alcohol, nothing FDA-approved for stimulants or cannabis). One treatment plan then addresses all of it, at one level of care, with one team.
Yes. Depression, anxiety, PTSD and other mental health conditions are treated in the same plan as the substance use, by the same team, in partial care, IOP or outpatient. We call it dual diagnosis treatment, and it is integrated rather than a separate track. What we do not do is treat a mental health condition on its own without a substance use disorder, or provide inpatient psychiatric care.
Alcohol and benzodiazepines such as Xanax, Klonopin, Ativan and Valium. Withdrawal from either can cause seizures and delirium and can be fatal without medical management, so daily heavy use of either calls for medically supervised withdrawal first. Opioid withdrawal is miserable but rarely dangerous, and buprenorphine can usually be started on an outpatient basis once you are in early withdrawal. Stimulants and cannabis do not need detox. South Jersey Recovery Program does not provide detox; we help you arrange it and take over when it is finished.
For opioid use disorder, yes: buprenorphine (Suboxone, Sublocade) and naltrexone (Vivitrol), prescribed on site in Berlin, NJ. Methadone is dispensed only through a federally certified opioid treatment program, which we are not. For alcohol use disorder, naltrexone, including the monthly Vivitrol injection. There is no FDA-approved medication for cocaine, methamphetamine, cannabis or benzodiazepine use disorder; for those, treatment is behavioral, and medication is used only for symptoms such as sleep or anxiety.
Yes. A family member can call (856) 788-6914 to ask questions, find out how admission works and talk through how to approach you, with or without your knowledge. What we cannot do is share anything about you with them once you are a client unless you give written consent, which federal law (42 CFR Part 2) requires. Family therapy is part of every level of care once you are enrolled.
